I just found out that apparently it's a common problem on them. I'm sad because I wanted it to replace my 43 as my edc but it is what it is.

From the outset the magazine release could not be pressed in order to release the magazine, no matter how hard it was pressed. Much softer than my Gen3 and slightly softer than my Gen4. Overall, I do like the Gen5 the best of the 3 G21 generations.Solution. My solution for these issues was to apply a thin layer of armor all over the magazine to decrease the friction.
